About me

My name is Nadine and I currently live in Dublin due to my Erasmus semester. I do like getting around, seeing new places and meeting people.

I specifically chose Dublin for my Erasmus semester due to my affection for this beautiful country and the wonderful Irish people. Their mentality is as unique as its landscape. As I have been to Dublin before -internship, language school, and vacation- I have given recommendations to friends who traveled around Ireland the past years. "You should start writing a tourist guide", they said to me and by sharing my itineraries now, I hope to kind of replace it ;)

This is my first piece of publication, so I am quite excited. Although having written a bunch of novels and texts, I have never published. After some editing, I hope to publish one of them one day- not because of my aim to become a full-time writer but because publishing one book is on my bucket list for several reasons.

I came up with the title My Dublin Daybook at a very early stage. I wanted to have an alliteration. It had to be a "D" due to "Dublin", so there was diary. My Dublin Diary, however, has been taken for other blogs. Daybook, ironically, is the very exact way you would call a journal in German. I didn't like it at first but I have gotten used to it and now I like it.

Initially, I planned to completely write this blog in German but have decided against it due to several reasons. Besides Englisch and German, I do speak really rubbish Italian, however, I would love to re-learn speaking it properly. Languages are a beautiful tool in interacting with people and I only regret that, once you lose track of it and do not get to speak it for a certain time, language skills get deactivated by the human brain.

Exciting times are ahead of us with Brexit being on the verge. Well, we'll see about that. Anyway, as we cannot predict the future but live in vivid times and with Dublin being close to the British border, I aim to address Brexit within my page. Reflecting impressions is what contemporary witnesses do and I reckon it to be of most displeasure to present another undistinguished blog. Again, in hopes to live up to my own expectations and to yours, I shall try to provide some interesting issues.

As the name implies, this blog should be about my experiences I am thrilled to share with the world wide web. It also displays as my sort of diary. Fingers are crossed that this will turn out to be successful. Let's just keep one thing in mind: the luck is with the Irish. Hopefully, it is with me, too!
